http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/queensl ... -dqmk.htmlGlasses will be replaced with plastic cups in Queensland nightspots by the end of the year, in a plan to reduce injuries from alcohol-fuelled violence.
Premier Anna Bligh announced police statistics would be used to pinpoint problem venues across the state where plastic or acrylic cups would be introduced following an escalation in "glassings".
Ms Bligh said while the move would not stop all pub brawls, it would go some way to preventing the disfiguring injuries that some victims suffer.
http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/quee ... b9e33eddd2Adrian Pang was an international Mixed Martial Arts champion and a veteran of more than 40 professional fights when his world — and his skull — caved in during a vicious attack at a Gold Coast nightclub in May 2012.
Out celebrating the success of some of his fight students at Sin City, Mr Pang moved in to settle a disturbance but ended up the one under attack himself.
He was restrained by a group of bouncers when Ezra Clayton, an off-duty security guard and hulking gridiron footballer who played for Australia, let fly with a swinging elbow.
Most of the attack happened in a dark corner of the club out of the reach of CCTV cameras, and the next time vision showed Mr Pang, he was out on the street with severe bruising to his face.
He later required several rounds of reconstructive facial surgery, his cheeks too shattered for even plates to be inserted to repair the damage.
He suffered blurred vision, numbness and lingering injuries which affected his business and fighting career.
